Flamenco Curriculum for your School

​FLAMENCO – Arts Education Program in Spanish class

If you are a Spanish teacher, and would like to offer a unit on flamenco dance as part of your Spanish curriculum, Flamenco Arts Education Program offers a prepaid package.
Flamenco Arts Education Program introduce the students to the history culture, and language using flamenco dance as the focal point, and are accompanied by curriculum materials of this art form, before giving a live demonstration. The students then have the opportunity to listen to flamenco instruments, and become familiar with the accessories. They find out about rhythm, co-ordination, basic posture, arm and feet movements, and learn some basic Spanish.

I aim to combine education with fun in my workshops, and come dressed in full flamenco costume with all the accessories used in the dance.  I also discuss how the Flamenco music, Flamenco song, and Flamenco dance all relate to each other with demonstration of the varied Flamenco instruments, and techniques involved such: Castanuelas (castanets), Guitarra Flamenca (guitar), Cante Flamenco    (song),  Baile Flamenco (Dance), Palmas (hand-clapping), and Zapateado    (Flamenco Footwork).

 I can tailor the workshop to your specific needs, but the basic elements are: 

• an introduction in Spanish 
• ​a simple discussion in Spanish, tailored to the children’s ability 
• a brief talk on the history of flamenco 
• an explanation of the costumes and accessories used in flamenco 
• a dance demonstration using  with or without live music
• a short sequence of steps for the children to practice 
• a simple exercise for the children to complete 
• a question and answer session ​​
